Australian born still life photographer Jason Pietra first picked up a camera at the age of 9, when he purchased a plastic camera and tripod he saw on television. After studying fine art photography in Australia, he moved to New York at the recommendation of his photography professor who saw potential for Jason to get out of the classroom and into the studio. Jason soon moved to London, where he spent three years assisting top still life and fashion photographers, before breaking out on his own career in editorial and Advertising. His first major assignment for Dazed and Confused, this followed quickly by various editorial and advertising clients, including Vogue, W, Vanity Fair, Bon, WallPaper, Another, Prada, Barney’s, Burberry, and Swarovski. In addition to commercial work, Jason has had two major exhibitions of personal work, Speculato in Vis in 2009 and States of Recollection in 2010, both in London.
